Just a thought on the premise that the majority of Americans know the concept
of due process.  If you have been keeping up with the OJ trial, you would see
this is not the case.  Recently, many jurorers were excused for their belief
that you are "guilty until you prove your innocence" and they did not
understand that the state had to produce evidence to prove w/o a reasonable
doubt the accused's guilt.  This, sadly, was not an isolated incident.  Where
did they get their concepts from?
