Cinematic Landscapes of the Ottoman World: Silent Film Screenings and Panel

In various film archives around the world, it is possible to come
across newsreels, documentaries or fictional films shot in the former
Ottoman lands. However, after the World War I and the decline of the
Ottoman Empire, these films were overlooked, disregarded and even
abandoned. These images are now rediscovered and made available for
public screenings decades after their production.

These films will be screened at Istanbul Modern Movie Theatre on 10
October 2014. There will also be live musical accompaniment.
