Global Exploitation Cinemas
--------------------------------------
Established in 2015 by Johnny Walker (Northumbria) and Austin Fisher (Bournemouth), the Global Exploitation Cinemas book series publishes original monographs and in some instances edited volumes, which explore the highly dynamic area of international "exploitation" film production and consumption. Encompassing a broad range of contexts, from industry to audiences to cultural history, it considers filmic trends and traditions, the work of specific directors, producers, stars and audiences.

Grindhouse: Cultural Exchange on 42nd Street, and Beyond (eds Walker & Fisher, 2016): described as a "tour de force" that "sets a new standard for the study of exploitation cinema history" (Mireille Miller-Young, Associate Professor of Feminist Studies, UC Santa Barbara).
Disposable Passions: Vintage Pornography and the Material Legacies of Adult Cinema (Church, 2016): described as "a fascinating dissection of the appeal of vintage porn and what this can tell us about cult film, fandom, and porn archives" (Feona Attwood, Professor of Cultural Studies, Middlesex University).
Exploiting East Asian Cinemas: Genre, Circulation, Reception (eds Provencher & Dillon, 2018): described as "one of the most important anthologies in developing work in this area" (Tony Williams, Professor of Film Studies, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale).
Some of our forthcoming books address: Nordic exploitation cinema; exploitation cinema's engagement with the Vietnam war; adult film history; the effect of the Mad Max series on exploitation movie culture and beyond.
