    The doc I always use for these purposes in "Women Who Made the Movies"
by Gwendolyn Foster and Wheeler Dixon.  It's really quite good, and readily
available.  Another interesting doc that's more focused (and more recent) is
"Without Lying Down: Frances Marion and the Power of Women in Hollywood" by
Bridget Terry, which is also on the open market.  Both of these are about
women in the production realm more than they are about representation,
although they do deal with the latter, of course.
