DRILLS OF LIBERATION Part of the Puerto Rican Activism and Resistance Film Series A new social movement started in Puerto Rico with direct actions against austerity measures in 2016, continued with community kitchens after Hurricane Maria in 2017, and culminated with the ousting of the governor in 2019. In DRILLS OF LIBERATION, journalist Juan Carlos Davila Santiago follows activist organizations and presents a unique portrait of a young generation of Puerto Ricans who are fighting for their basic rights, as they also reimagine the liberation and future of their country. DRILLS OF LIBERATION and Puerto Rican Activism and Resistance Film Series MAMA GLORIA Part of the Queer Essentials Film Collection Queer Essentials is a powerful survey of LGBTQIA+ experiences from award-winning directors in the United States and abroad and a must for educational media collections. Our ever-growing film catalog features more than 50 independent works from Richard Fung's ORIENTATIONS (1985), to New Queer Cinema from the 90s, to documentary films about Black Lesbian writer Audre Lorde, and the work of Thomas Allen Harris. More recent films include portrayals of trans activists Mama Gloria from Chicago, Pauline Park from New York, and Hector Plascencia from California.
