Altho it is not usually classified in this category, how about SCARFACE --
obviously the GODFATHERS in terms of the darker side of the picture,  HESTER
STREET usually comes up in this venue, also like Levinson's AVALON altho not
named as Jewish, immigrant experience is all the more powerful for being
portrayed as generic.

MOSCOW ON THE HUDSON isn't nearly as trivialized as it seems, but for the
best picture of recent Russian immigration, and very dark indeed, is LITTLE
