Another Renoir, THE LOWER DEPTHS, with Jean Gabin and Louis Jouvet. Also, Rene
Clair's A NOUS A LIBERTE, since it contains tramps but glamorizes the
"clochard" ideal. Would not tramp movies be related to poverty? In that
case, Robert Aldrich's EMPEROR OF THE NORTH POLE (1973) and William
Wellman's BEGGARS OF LIFE (1928) would qualify? But again, one transcends
the "convenient" limitations of genre classification.
