As we are approaching human cuisine (re. earlier reference to the Romero
zombie trilogy) what about WEEKEND, HOW TASTY WAS MY LITTLE FRENCHMAN, EATING
RAOUL, PARENTS, CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE, Italian cannibal movies directed
by Antonio Margheretti (subject of an article in a recent VIDEO WATCHDOG)
and, of course, Lucio Fulci? The latter may be deal with in EURO TRASH
CINEMA and other sources.
Also, the 1972(?) CANNIBAL GIRLS by the future director of GHOSTBUSTERS.
Again, the Hong Kong movie, THE UNTOLD STORY (1992) with a "tasty"
performance by Anthony Wong for which he won a H.K. acting award. The
motif also features in the first HEROIC TRIO film. Also CANNIBAL
MERCENARY (1983?) known to gourmets as "Apocalypse Gore." There is
another movie dealing with Vietnamese boat people whose title escapes
me at the moment but it is listed in VIETNAM WAR FILMS (McFarland, 1994).
Then, the two Tobe Hooper TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE films and Jeff Burr's
LEATHERFACE (1988). In the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE II, the Sawyer family
run an underground fast-food barbecue establishment providing delicacies
for bloodthirsty Dallas football fans.
Also, the western movie DONNER PASS. In the Hong Kong movie, HEROIC
TRIO 2, I believe Michelle Yeoh consumes a rat in a post-apocalyptic
scenario.
A civilized dinner scene occurs in the film version of Daphne du Maurier's
FRENCHMAN'S CREEK (1945) between Joan Fontaine and Arturo de Cordova.
Enjoy and consume!
Tony Williams.
