Actually, in most place, the three endings of CLUE were shown at the same
theater, sometimes in different rooms in the multiplex, sometimes at different
times--a gimmick to get more people to see a pretty wretched film.
 
Of course, the most egregious editings of films for regional markets were in
the days of segregation, when a major black actor might be edited out of
the film in Southern theaters.
 
I don't really know about more contemporary films, except that some films
which had sex and/or violence trimmed for the U.S. market might have those
elements restored for international viewing.
