Utopian films don't necessarily have to be nice in the storyline. Take a
film like Demolition Man... it takes place in a utopian society... as does
Lucas' THX 1138. Another one might be West World with Richard Benjamin
and Yule Brenner, in which things are utopian in the beginning, but fall
dystopian films are indeed more proliferate...
Robocop, Total Recall, Running Man, Alien 3, Freejack... sorry about all
the cheezy sci-fi, but that's what comes to mind directly. Actually,
Wages of Fear, the Polish film, is sort of a dystopian setting. Whew,
thought I'd never come up with a respectable film.
Hope this helps.
