Speech
Reel Bad Arabs
American University
Jack Shaheen , Southern Illinois University

Anyone interested in the role of stereotypes in film needs to see and/or
record
this presentation by the leading expert in the field, a man who has been both
a
professor of communications and a practitioner in the marketplace.

This speech will be broadcast on C-SPAN at the EST listed above. (Out
where we live, it will be an hour earlier.)

Some of his presentation can be found in the new COLUMBIA COMPANION
TO AMERICAN HISTORY ON FILM, but Dr. Shaheen is an eloquent speaker
and the topic of media protrayal of Arabs could not be more timely.
