Only my favourite censorship anecdote... LA COQUILLE ET LE CLERGYMAN was
banned by the British Board of Film Censors because '...this film is so
obscure in conception that we can confidentally say it has no meaning
whatsoever. However, if one were intended, it must surely be
objectionable.' From THE TIMES, 8 January 1935.
