                           ANNOUNCEMENT FOR=20
                     NETWORKING CONFERENCE & EXPO
                      FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT ARTS
                        & INFORMATION SCIENCES

               =20
TO TALK ABOUT, PROMOTE AND PUBLICIZE
                    INDUSTRY-RELATED TECHNOLOGY
                   SUPPORT SERVICES AND PRODUCTS

                SATURDAY & SUNDAY MAY 20TH & 21ST 1995
                   SEATTLE DOUBLETREE SUITES HOTEL
                     SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, U.S.A.

SORRY FOR ANY DUPLICATIONS!

Dark Diva...In Effect and the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center in
Seattle have teamed up to present this Motion Picture/Music/High-Tech=20
Networking Conference and Support Services Expo to bring together the many=
=20
industry-related people, organizations and services, as a unit,
to address and evaluate the effect of the new technologies on Arts
and Entertainment. It is also a focus on the Pacific Northwest as a new and=
=20
developing region supporting the future of the entertainment
industry.

The Pacific Northwest. Combine a remarkably diverse environment, a strong=20
economy, diverse pool of acting and musical talent, an established tradition=
=20
in the visual and performing arts, music and dance, with an internationally=
=20
known center of advanced technology, and you have all the makings for a=20
major player in the entertainment industry.=20

Because each of these creative and technical disciplines significantly=20
impacts the other, a broad-based dialog needs to be established on a=20
continuing basis to promote both interactive and inter-effective=20
professional ventures. It=92s time to add another four-star industry to the=
=20
Northwest=92s already world-class roster of software, aviation, wood=
 products,=20
shipping, financial, agricultural and electronics enterprises.

The Pacific Northwest is more than an economic and geographic community -=20
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, and Alberta. It=92s also home=
 to=20
a largely untapped talent pool of experienced, professional motion picture=
=20
and television production crews, recording facilities, locations, engineers=
=20
and technicians, developers and other support services - without mentioning=
=20
the acting, directing, producing, writing and musical talent - needs to be=
=20
presented as a unified whole to the moguls and shamans of the=20
industry...i.e., to those from whom all blessings (and dollars) flow.

So listen up, venture capital folks; independent major and mini studios,=20
recording labels; broadcast/cablecast producers; acquisition, development=20
and distribution people. Listen up Los Angeles and New York. And anyone else=
=20
who calls the shots. The Pacific Northwest is where we are, who we are and=
=20
what we can do. Let=92s get together in Seattle. The weekend of May 20 and=
 21,=20
1995.

This event is designed to benefit everyone involved in the entertainment=20
industry and those who help make it happen - the related arts, sciences and=
=20
technologies - the listeners, viewers, watchers, foot-tappers, dancers,=20
critics and fans, without whom, none of it would be possible.

Portions of the proceeds from this event will be used to benefit and support=
=20
the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center and The Divavision Competition -=20
two Northwest but West Coast-oriented organizations dedicated to youth=20
mentoring, vocational and professional training.=20

The Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center directs youth video training=20
programs focused on video production techniques. Young people are given=20
hands-on experience filming and taping professional theater performances at=
=20
Seattle=92s Madrona Youth Theatre which provides young persons with a=20
wholesome, professionally-oriented atmosphere in which they enhance their=20
confidence, motivation, discipline and communication skills. The theater=20
enjoys national recognition for its aheivement in instilling positive values=
=20
and a sense of personal value in otherwise vulnerable, at risk, adolescents.=
=20

The Divavision Competitions are devoted solely to the discovery and=20
presentation of new literary, directing, comedic and musical talent through=
=20
the Feature Length Screenwriting Competition, The Short Film Competition for=
=20
first time directors, and NW Flavin, the Pacific Northwest=92s own talent=20
showcase competition. An on-going youth employment program is implemented=20
throughout the competitions. It places up to ten young persons in paid=20
partime production assistant and clerical positions. By working alongside=20
industry professionals in actual work situations, the novices learn valuable=
=20
technical skills well beyond industry basics.=20

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Anybody or any organization who has a vested interest in the present and=20
future of the entertainment industry should plan to attend this important=20
event. The issues that will be addressed at this Networking Conference and=
=20
Expo are just as pertinent to the interests of other developing centers for=
=20
entertainment and associated technologies throughout the U.S. and Canada,=20
e.g. Albany, Georgia...Austin, Texas...Vancouver, B.C....Toronto,=20
Ontario...San Francisco, California and others. Just as other major North=20
American industries have decentralized to take advantage of regional centers=
=20
of talent, management, skilled labor and attractive economic environments,=
=20
so must the entertainment industry. It=92s only a matter of time.=20

Everyone in the Global Village, non U.S. and Canadian companies, exhibitors,=
=20
participants and other biz-oriented people are most welcome.

SUPPORT SERVICES EXPO
EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION

NOTE: The Expo will feature forums and discussion groups covering a variety=
=20
of industry-related technical, educational and economic issues related to=20
music, film and television. Many Expo attendees will want to see the latest=
=20
stuff happening with hardware and software that affects their music,=20
television and film domain. Here=92s a chance to show it off to the=
 hard-core=20
users.
