Note that this search is agnostic in terms of epistemology, method, and so on. We want a solid scholar to mentor our junior faculty and doctoral students, and the goal is to keep this person out of administration.

Associate / Full Professor in Journalism and Electronic Media

Job Description:
The Department of Journalism & Electronic Media in the College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University seeks a senior scholar in journalismand/or electronic media. We seek a colleague who will strengthen the department’s scholarly reputation by maintaining an active research agenda and mentoring junior faculty members and doctoral students. Candidates must have an earned Ph.D., qualify for the rank of Associate or Professor, and be eligible for tenure. They also will be expected to conduct research and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in at least one of the following areas: visual communication, journalism, interactive storytelling, mobile and/or social media.  Preferred qualifications include professional experience in atleast one of the following areas: media writing, reporting, media production, media management, social media or experience in other media industries. We value well-rounded candidates committed to effective teaching, scholarly research, and academic and professional service.  Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated research program capable of attracting external funding and publishing in refereed journals.  The successful candidatewill need to be approved for expedited tenure and promotion at Texas Tech University.
