On January 10, 1995 Don Larsson replied to Barbara Bernstein's inquiry
about self-referential cartoons and referred to a couple of cartoons by
Chuck Jones, but without recalling the titles, as I recall (I thought I
saved this posting, but it's not in any logical mailbox).

the cartoon with musical notes as characters is "The High Note" (1960)

the one with a panoply of sound effects and a devil is "Now Here This" (1963)

Both are showing up occasionally on cable these days, but I don't recall if
it's on TNT or Nickelodeon.
