>Two of Richard Dyer's essays are in a wonderful anthology of
>writing on stardom and consumer culture. Christine Gledhill edited and BFI
>published "Stardom: Industry of Desire." The essays are both historical and
>theoretical and all very facinating.

A quick footnote to Dana's note and a shameless plug...

Footnote:

Though Christine Gledhill has worked (works?) at the BFI, S:IoD was published by
Routledge (ISBN 0-415-05218-l) in 1991 and I don't believe the BFI's imprimatur
was on it.

Plug:

Dyer's MOVIE magazine piece on Lana Turner is included in another star studies
anthology that was released the same year as S:IoD, STAR TEXTS: IMAGE AND
PERFORMANCE IN FILM AND TELEVISION (Detroit: Wayne State U. Press). ISBN
0-8143-2312-X.
