I am looking for film versions of Aleksandr Melentyevich Volkov's _Volshebnik Izumrudnogo Goroda_ (The Wizard of the City of Emeralds), an adaptation of Baum's novel. I have bootlegs of the 1994 Pavel Arsenov film and the 1974 miniseries that I would like to upgrade to DVD (I have a region-free player), but there is one made by Moskva-Diafilm prior to 1970 that was mentioned in an afterword published in English in the Winter 1994 Baum Bugle. There is also another 1990s version with a different director that a film library in the UK holds, but they couldn't tell me anything more about it than they'd had on their page, which wasn't even the minimum of five items to add to IMDb.

If anyone has any information about these, it would be most appreciated. Also the Prikluchiniya ve Izumrudnom Gorode DVD. I have the first one on VCD, but I understand the DVD has both ith optional English subtitles, but VCD being the medium of choice in Russia, most importers here won't get it.

Thanks,
Scott Andrew Hutchins

"But since in fact we see that avarice, anger, envy, pride, sloth, lust and stupidity commonly profit far beyond humility, chastity, fortitude, justice and thought, and have to choose, to be human at all...why then perhaps we *must* stand fast a little--even at the risk of being heroes." --Sir Thomas More, _A Man for All Seasons_, by Robert Bolt
