To Cary Nathenson,
        The fact that the film was in black and white makes it seem
more realistic by giving it a sort of documentary quality, so that
the face of murder is more shocking.  Also, most of us who have seen
World War II documentary footage, such as that presented in Victory At
Sea, et al., saw it in black and white.
