I might suggest Ken Dancyger & Jeff Rush's Alternative Scriptwriting: Writing
Beyond the Rules as a text which would supplement your professional experience
and practical knowledge. I think this book, somewhat ironically, is one of the
better analysis of traditional scriptwriting practices as well as encouraging
writers to move beyond "the rules."

Good Luck,
