I agree with Pam Inglesby's recommendation about Levine's HIGHBROW/LOWBROW.
It is a good antidote to some of the flabby prose being published.  I don't
agree with every word, but then there's hardly anyone I agree with more than
half the time.
 
Pam: Remaindered at five bucks?  I guess I just haven't been watching.  But
quick turn-over is increasingly common even for very popular books.
Something to do with the tax code and current practices in publishing.
