Straying from the subject somewhat, I'd like to second Mary Kalfatovic's
recommendation of Joan Micklin Silver's CROSSING DELANCEY,
and recommend her earlier effort, HESTER STREET (1975) as fine
filmic exploration of ethnicity and immigration.
Sorry, though, no prominent elderly women that I can recall.
