For a detailed explication of Un Chien andalou, you might look at
Raymond Durgnat's book, Luis Bunuel, rev. ed. (Berkeley:  U of
California P, 1977).
 
Stuart Liebman has also written an interesting analysis, based in psycho-
analytic principles using linguistic evidence drawn from the film's
imagery.  It's in his article, "Un Chien andalou:  The Talking Cure,"
in Rudolf Kuenzli's anthology, Dada and Surrealist Film (NY:  Willis,
Locker and Owens, 1987).
