Film vs. video, again

     Many thanks to Prof. Carr for his eloquent defense of video.  I suspect
HDTV is going to end the video-bashing because it will just look too much
like film to sustain the argument.  There's no question that NTSC video does
look different than film, but the big question is, how did it get the
"cheap" label?  It couldn't have anything to do with criticism being in the
hands of all those screen critics who, after spending so many years defend-
ing film as "serious art" against their colleagues in the English Lit.
programs, couldn't wait to do the same thing to the new kids on the block!
     By the way, where do you folks peg Zappa's "200 Motels?"  Film?  Video?
Fideo?  Vilm?
