organizations (Channel 4, NFBC, AFI, Cartoon, etc.); 7) Pop
culture from an international perspective; 8) Sound design
in modern animation; 9) Close analysis of selected films.

Fresh perspectives on traditional subjects are also welcome.
International participants are particularly encouraged to
analyze their regional styles, animators and studios. Papers
may be delivered in any language, but English translations
of the text should be prepared in time for distribution.

Format: A 250-500 word abstract should be submitted,
outlining the focus, methodology and conclusions of the
          proposed paper.

Length of presentations: 20 minutes, including slide, film
and/or video illustrations. A limited number of longer time
slots will be allocated to guest animation directors and
          scholars working on major projects.

Restrictions: Papers published prior to the conference
          cannot be accepted.

Deadline: May 15, 1994. Later proposals will be considered,
but will be ineligible for financial aid if coming from the
US. The Selection Committee will review all proposals and
respond by June 10, 1994. Completed papers must be submitted
by August 31, 1994 to secure a place in the final program.
