Jeff MacIntyre was searching for any work on the "mainstream blockbuster
film." I would suggest looking for the edited volume on Batman which came
out around 1991-1992. I think Roberta Pearson co-edited the volume and
there are some very good essays concerning the Batman phenomena of 1989.
Of particular interest is Eileen Meehan's essay titled "Holy Commodity
Fetish Batman!"
