That's a rather interesting view of the events.  Surely the
Summer Island community understood the policeman's views
and beleifs completley..otherwise how could they manipulate
him so well?  And as far as they were concerned, the climax
of the diagetic events were far from devastating: they got
exactly what they wanted, when they wanted it.
