 No course on the American Family is complete without screenings of the
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE trilogy, PSYCHO, SHADOW OF A DOUBT, LAST HOUSE ON
THE LEFT, and the HILLS HAVE EYES accompanied by suitable readings from
Poe, Melville, Hawthorne, and Ambrose Pierce ("The Pest House") etc.
  Also Bob Balaban's PARENTS is a good send-up of the 50s sit-com T.V.
family as well as the STEPFATHER series.
