>Applications are invited for the following appointments in the Samuel
Beckett Centre for
>Drama & Theatre Studies, the Drama Department at Trinity College, Dublin.
>Both posts will be tenable from September, 1998. Preference will be given to
>candidates holding a Ph.D in drama or a related field who have had
>experience. North Americans note: the term Lecturer as used in these
islands is roughly the equivalent of Assistant and lower Associate
Professor in American usage. Both of these posts are advertised at a
relatively junior level.
>The Centre enrols over 200 students internationally in a range of
programmes from B.A.
>to Ph.D, including a unique acting course in collaboration with the Abbey
Theatre and an
>M.Phil course in Irish Theatre Studies. It maintains a very active
>performance and academic events in its theatres on the Trinity College
campus in the
>heart of Dublin.
>LECTURER IN DRAMA STUDIES
>A full-time, permanent Lecturer in theatre or performance history,
criticism or theory is
>sought. While the precise area of expertise is open, candidates should be
>teach general courses in theatre history and hold specialities related to
>performance in the past or present. Additionally, experience in the
>(directing or scenography, for example), or film or media studies would be

>LECTURER IN FILM STUDIES
>This appointment will be made on contract for a period of three years. The
