In an article that I published in _Wide Angle_ back in 1984 (Vol. 6, #3)
called "Women in the Early Film Industry," I made a passing reference to
Bettie Fitzgerald, a WWI-era screenwriter who lived and worked in
Alabama.  I learned about her by way of an article I discovered in the
silent-era trade journal _Moving Picture World_.  Assuming that all my
bibliographic citations are in order (!), you should be able to find this
original article on p. 202 of the 11 July 1914 edition of _MPW_.  If you
don't have access to this periodical, just let me know and I'll be happy to
track it down and make you a copy.
 
By the way, Janet Staiger reprinted my article in _The Studio System_, an
anthology published this year by Rutgers U. Press.
