  I seriously doubt that there is a better film on this theme than
Andrzej Wajda's "Kanal."  On a very different scale, the storm drains
of Los Angeles have been used to greater or lesser effect in quite a
few movies, "Them," with the giant ants, probably best known.  There's
a brief reference to these tunnels towards the end of "Volcano," this
years first entry in the summer stupidity sweepstakes.
