I would talk to Charles Wlofe at UCSB film department.  He personally knows
Douglas Gomery and has taught classes on Synchronized sound.  Another person
you would want to talk to is Edward Branigan who writes and teaches film
history at UCSB.  He also knows Douglas Gomery.
