One of the apparent aspects of both films might have to do with thr
"games" or "gamesmanship" which govern the plots. In BL the baseball
game controls the foreground action and even prompts Harvey Keitel
at one point to shoot his radio. As the innings of the game progress
his mental state deteriorates. It all certainly gives baseball--the
all american sport-- a new twist.
