One of the nicest examples is at the opening of "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" where Lynch in character as an FBI agent gives an interpretation to other agents of an unusual event that's both a parody of reductive criticism and a warning about how to approach the rest of the film. (Of course the classic literary example is Nabokov's "Pale Fire.")
