Visual Communications, the nationa's premier Asian
Pacific media arts center, established the Los Angeles Asian Pacific
Film and Video Festival in 1983 as a vehicle to promote Asian and
Asian Pacific American cinema. the Festival has grown from its
humble beginning as a weekend-long series ionto a major annual
showcase presenting the best of Asian American and Asian
international media in the United States.
In addition, through panel discussing, workshops, special
retrospective and spotlight programs, and artist/audience dialogues,
the Festival fulfills a valuable educational mission in illuminating
the visions and voices of Asian Pacific peoples and heritage.
Visual Communication will present the 13th edition of the
Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film & Video Festivasl May 14 though 21,
1998 at selected sites throughout Los Angeles.
PRODUCTIONS ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION:
Features and shorts by Asian Pacific Aermicans with themes involving,
but NOT limited to Asian Pacific American and/or Asian Pacific
diasporic culture, history and experience; in the folowing
categories:
* Dramatic/Narrative
* Documentary
* Experimental
* Animation/Graphic films
* 1-channel videoworks (all genres)
SCREENING FORMAT:
Super 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm (film); 3/4-inch NTSC-format (video)
ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE:
* complete and signed entry form
* previes tape (1/2-inch VHS, NTSC format)
* Processing Fee of $20 U.S.; $25 outside of U.S.
(in U.S. funds, payable by check ormoney order to Visual
Communications)
* Self-addressed stamped mailer (required for return of preview
tapes, U.S. entries)
