I appreciated the posting of Robert Allen's thoughts on the AFI affair.
They seem an American echo of the same point Godard made (rather more
wistfully) in DEUX FOIS CINQUANTE ANS DU CINEMA--a moving eulogy for
what used to be French cinema.
