The University of Miami, School of Communication announces its search
for Program Director, Motion Pictures Program.  Nominations and
applications for this important leadership position are welcome.
Following is a summary description of the position for your review:

 

 

Faculty Leadership Position Open

School of Communication

Program Director, Motion Pictures

(At the rank of Tenured Associate or Full Professor)

 

The School of Communication at the University of Miami seeks a visionary
individual with substantial, nationally recognized professional and/or
scholarly achievements to lead its Motion Picture Program. Teaching
experience and an advanced degree are preferred, although applicants
with extensive credentials and a national reputation in the field of
motion pictures appropriate for the award of tenure will be seriously
considered.   

 

The Program Director works closely with the Dean of the School and
serves as the primary academic and administrative leader of the Motion
Picture Program, which has a distinguished faculty of thirteen and a
student enrollment of 300 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. The
Program offers the B.S, M.A. and M.F.A. degrees in several areas
including production, film studies, producing, directing and
screenwriting. The School also offers the Ph.D. in Communication with an
emphasis in film studies. 

 

The curriculum integrates creative practice and history/criticism/theory
in an international and multicultural context, and embraces all forms of
contemporary motion picture and new media creation-narrative, animation,
documentary, experimental, television, and short forms for the internet
and mobile devices  

 

The School maintains state of the art production and post production
equipment and facilities in both traditional film and digital and HD
video.  The School houses an archival collection of over 2000 original
35mm prints of classic motion pictures and runs a 300 seat theatrical
exhibition facility capable of screening all film and video formats.
