I think this has come up before, but since we've been discussing copyright
and Tarantino and since I just got a mailer on it...

From that mailer:

The US Congress is now considering passage of the Film Disclosure Act,
which would require advisory labels on all films and videos that have been
cut and altered after their initial release. These labels would warn the
consumer of the nature and extent of the alterations and whether consent
for the changes had been given by the films' artistic authors, the writer,
cinematgrapher, director, etc.

Current US copyright law permits companies that release films and videos to
re-edit them, cut out entire scenes and performances, to recompose the
image by pan and scanning them, to electronically speed them up, etc., all
without informing the viewing public of the alterations.

The Artists Rights Foundation, which is supported by the Directors Guild,
Writers Guild, Screen Actors Guild, American Society of Cinematographers,
American Cinema Editors, and International Photographers Guild, advocates
the passing of The Fim Disclosure Act.
