The May 1991 issue of Chaplin, the Swedish film mag, featured an article by
British writerPhilip Strick about Cyberpunk and "tech noir" films. Haven't
seen that particualr term anywhere else. Tech noir seems rather appropriate
considering the cityscapes
of Blade Runner and the dystopic vision of some
of the films he mentioned. Has anyone out there in cyberspace seen any other
articles on cyberpunk or tech noir in film? If so, where? For people
interested in cyberpunk in general, I uploaded an interesting HyperCard stack
called Beyond Cyberpunk, with lists of articles and books. You can get it by
ftp from sumex-aim.stanford.edu
Some of the films mentioned in the article I read were unavailable in Sweden.
They were:
Android - Aaron Lipstadt 1982, Akira - Katsuhiro Otomo 1988, Class of 1999 -
Mark Lester 1990,
Slipstream - Steven Lisberger
{1989.
Anyone familiar with these films who is willing to give a short synopsis and
whether they think the film is worth tracking down for viewing - I would have to
order it from the US - please send comments to me directly at:

Don't want to bog down the list unless others are interested in this.
