If you look at the recent cuts in the last 10-20 years in education, the
first programs in the lower grades to go are the arts programs.  The same
holds true at Universities across the country.  Just recently the ball was
dropped on professors in Florida where they felt cuts should be made in
education and in what department.  There definitely is a scare going
through the universities, not only in Florida, but across the country.
Just ask the studenst involved in the University of Maryland Film Program
which part of the curriculum was the first to go.
