A text that is equivalent to the first half of Giannetti is "A
Viewer's Guide to Film" by Richard Gollin, McGraw Hill 1992. I've
been using Sobchack andSobchack because of the chapter on writing
about films (An Introduction to Film, Little Brown) but may switch, having
prepared my own pamphlet on writing film papers. Liz Weis
