Renato Tonelli writes:
"In a way I wish that the Academy would leave the old masters (like
Antonioni) alone. I don't think of myself as the superstitious type but...

I don't think that Antonioni will make himself available for interviews. I
saw a brief interview on him on Italian television when it was announced that
he would be making a film: He had great difficulty speaking (the lingering
effects of a stroke). His wife spoke for him.
I hope he will continue making films long after the Academy's tribute."

Perhaps he'll pull a Welles--phone in a thankyou supposedly from overseas
while in a hotel not far away.

The best tribute would be to play the ending of ZABRISKIE POINT over and
over again until the Academy gets the idea and blows up.

From Big Jim McBob and Billy Sol Hurok's Farm Report and Film Reviews (SCTV):
BIG JIM: I didn't like BLOWUP. The title was misleadin'! Nobody
        blowed up!
BILLY SOL: But I liked ZABRISKIE POINT! They blowed up good!
BIG JIM: Yeah, they blowed up *real* good!
