Memorial Service for Richard deCordova

Many of you may not know that Richard deCordova passed away last month.
Richard was an Associate Professor of Communications at DePaul University,
after having received his Ph.D. in Film and Television Studies from UCLA
and spending one year at the Centre American du Cinema in Paris. Richard
was the author of "Picture Personalities: The Emergence of the Star System
in America," as well as a number of articles about various aspects of film
history. He was also a very good friend to a number of us. Friends and
colleagues are invited to a memorial service for Richard at DePaul
University in Chicago on 12 January 1997. The memorial will begin at 2:00
pm in the Schmidt Academic Center (SAC) 154, and a reception will follow.
Children are welcome. Please pass along this information to anyone who
might be interested, and who might not see this posting. For further
information, contact Eric Smoodin ([log in to unmask]).
