I remember in a few popular films of recent years the use of red lighting.
In "Flatliners", red light is a precursor to a horrific dream sequence. In
"Philadelphia", red light was used during the scene when Tom Hanks character
is listening to an opera and emoting his feelings for the piece. I remember
seeing an interview with the director when the film came out, but I can't
recollect what he said about his technique in that scene. Hope this helps!
