I became aware of him from a song he sang called "Gloomy Sunday" which
was about a wedding where the bride stood up the groom if I remember
the story correctly. Although it was a sad song I heard it aired
first on the Doctor Demento Radio Show in the late 1970's which is
a syndicated radio humor show. I was in college then and I played
it for another student in the school of music who was a vocal major
and I remember him remarking how sad the song was. He had a great
voice with and wonderful expression.

I wasn't aware of the other things you mentioned about his background.
Are there any films of him performing?

David
