Hello,

        Although not set in pre-cinematic times, Malick's BADLANDS has an interesting
sequence that revolves around stereopticon images. A related critical article is Garrett
Stewart's "Photo-Gravure: Death, Photography, and Film Narrative," WIDE ANGLE 9,
no. 1 (1987).
