'the omega man' w. c. heston (remake of 'last man on earth') has an
african-american female lead (turns into a zombie). bill duke has a role
in 'predator' (contrast to romero characters??). and don't forget lt.
uhura!!!

in novels there's rbt. heinlein's 'farnham's freehold' sort of like planet
of the apes except post-apocalypse the blacks rule and make payback
trouble for the white protagonist who emerges from his bomb shelter, w.
nuclear family in tow natch. outrageously racist, but thus fascinating in
what it reveals... never made into a film afaik (and probably a good
thing...)
