In the midst of speaking about the voice of HAL in 2001, it was brought
to my attention this morning that we have come to the point in real time
when HAL was born.  There is apparently a special birthday party being
planned that will involve a net videocast of Arthur Clarke on Friday,
March 14, at 9pm CST to be held at http://HALbday.com.
