You might want to look further back for some other animated films.  _Heavy
Metal_ (around 1981) was rated R due to graphic violence, language and
sexual content of the type found in the magazine.  Some of Ralph Bakshi's
early animated films (Fritz the Cat, Coonskin,etc) earned R and X ratings
for among other things, violence, language, and sexual content.
