28th ANNUAL NEW YORK EXPO ISSUES CALL FOR SHORT SUBJECTS
The film festival that discovered George Lucas, Spike Lee,
Martin Brest, Martha Coolidge and Danny DeVito is now celebrating
its 28th anniversary. The NEW YORK EXPOSITION OF SHORT FILM AND
VIDEO is New York's premiere showcase for new, cutting-edge short
subjects.
Issuing a Call for Entries with an August 15th deadline, the
New York Expo is seeking independent short films under 60 minutes
for its 1994 season, with public screenings on November 11-12,
1994, at the New School for Social Research in Greenwich Village,
New York City. The Expo screens narrative, documentary, animation,
experimental, and music video productions, and presents First,
Second, Third Place, and Jury Awards in four categories. There is
also an Eastman Kodak cash prize. Judges for the Expo are academy
award-winning directors along with eminent scholars and critics.
In addition to the public screenings, the Expo will screen selected
films for New York area distributors and exhibitors, and offer a
public seminar on the exhibition and distribution of short film.
The New York Expo is newly reorganized for 1994, with a new
director, in association with the New School for Social Research,
the New York Film/Video Council, and the Experimental Intermedia
Foundation. The Expo is supported by the New York State Council on
the Arts, Eastman Kodak, Home Box Office, and other corporate and
private sponsors.
The Expo accepts Canadian and international entries. Maximum
running time 60 minutes; public screenings in 16mm and 3/4" video;
entry fee $35; entry deadline August 15, 1994.
