i think --  in sum -- that an eyeline match is just that,
a MATCH, that is, a characteristic of the relationship
between shots, and as such a feature of editing

a point of view shot is just that, a SHOT, and thus less
directly a function of editing even though its meaning
as a p-o-v shot has to be created by context

in many instances, but not all, an eyeline match is an
edit that establishes a p-o-v shot . . . so in effect the two
terms can be different ways of describing the same piece
of film

that i suspect is simple enough
